Owain provides Reduced Rates Counselling.
I am a third-year student enrolled in the Masters of Counselling program at City University in Edmonton. My counselling practice is guided by the principles of respect, cultural curiosity, empowerment, and self-efficacy. I have a special interest in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
I am passionate about supporting and empowering children and youth from a variety of backgrounds. I currently work as a Child and Youth Care Worker (CYCW) and provide emotional and social supports to children and youth at a therapeutic residential treatment campus in the Edmonton Area. Prior to becoming a CYCW, I worked as a youth pastor at a church in Edmonton for five years providing a variety of supports and opportunities for young people. I received my Masters in Religious Studies from the University of Alberta in 2019, and my Bachelor of Arts from the University of Alberta in 2011.
I acknowledge that I live on Treaty 6 territory, and respect the traditional knowledge, territories, and peoples of this land. As our society continues to learn about the legacy of colonialism in Canada, I continue to seek ways to decolonize my own practices.

Is it becoming harder to face life expectations related to getting married, having children, or buying a home? Is belonging to a particular social or economic bracket holding you from advancing in your life?
Managing the social and familial expectations between two cultures is overwhelming and can leave you feeling defeated, unsure about your future, and make you feel like giving up.
As a second-generation South Asian-Canadian, my lived experience of having navigated the values and norms of two distinct cultures uniquely positions my insight into the struggles and inner conflict silently endured.
Life transitions, casteism, colourism, dating as a South Asian, separation and/or divorce, infertility, grief, depression, and anxiety are my areas of counselling focus.
In your session with me, we will together take apart your story one event, one emotion, one thought at a time. Currently, my approach aligns with methods used in the Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
Find your voice, one story at a time.

I work with children, youth, parents and immigrant women. Specialties: Youth, Play Based Therapy, Children’s Assessments including ADHD and Autism (no referrals from EPSB), Parenting, Women and Immigrants
I began working as a Clinical Psychologist with children ten years ago in Brazil. In 2013, I immigrated to Canada to continue pursuing my career in psychology and work towards becoming a certified play therapist. This experience has given me insight into what children and families face when moving to a different country, such as struggles with cultural issues, racism and other related experience. For this reason, I integrate a multicultural approach during counselling sessions.
I specialize in working with children aged 4 to 17 experiencing a range of social, emotional, and behavioural concerns such as anxiety, attachment issues, self-esteem, ADHD, autism, oppositional defiance, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), peer relationships, among other issues. I take a holistic approach when it comes to understanding and treating children’s mental health challenges by considering a child’s physical, personal, cultural, social, emotional, and spiritual well-being and their cognitive aspects when assessing their symptoms and making a treatment plan. When working with children my goal is to support your child, alongside yourself as their parent or caregiver, through a holistic and whole-person approach to meet the unique needs of the individual or family system. I work collaboratively with other professionals to ensure that each child and family are supported and connected to the resources needed to achieve their goals.

Kelsey provides Reduced Rates Counselling.
My name is Kelsey, I am a Counselling Intern working with children using play therapy, teens and with adults. Previously, I have worked as a Child and Youth Counselor at a treatment center for high-risk youth. I worked in that therapeutic setting for 5 years. I learned about the impacts of trauma and mental health on the brain. I have supported children and youth who struggle with anxiety, depression, ADHD, abuse, grief and loss and helped them learn new skills to help them manage their daily tasks. My passion is to work with children and youth to help provide a safe place where they can tell their story.
I have also worked for the Ministry of Children and Family Development where I learned about how to work with a family. I have enjoyed working with families and look forward to working with them again. All families are unique therefore the journey for the family to become a stronger unit is unique. When I work with a family, I believe everyone deserves a space to be heard and respected in order to work towards everlasting change.
I will build my practice from a client center approach with an attachment-based approach with youth and adults and a play therapy approach for children under 10 years. I will use this practicum to explore different therapeutic approach like Cognitive Behavior Therapy, solution focused approaches, play therapy and EMDR. I’m looking forward to creating and growing my own approach through the experience of the professionals around me.
I believe that everyone deserves to feel validated and heard. Working with the individual or family to build on the connection to help them create the confidence they need for growth. Growth is a process and therefore, I want to provide a judgment-free space which allows you to speak openly and honestly. I will work to create an inviting space to foster this. I’m looking forward to meeting you!
